Questions owners ask
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to what owners ask us most. If your question isn't here, ask us directly.
Is selling business data to AI companies legitimate?
Yes. Large AI companies and the platforms that supply them license real business records to train and test their systems. These are real contracts with real payments. The question is whether the price and terms are fair.
Will my customers' or employees' information be shared?
It shouldn't be, and we make sure of it. Personal details, customer names and anything restricted by your contracts are removed or left out before a buyer sees a single file.
Do I give up ownership of my data?
Usually not. Most deals are licenses: the buyer gets the right to use a copy for set purposes. Whether it's exclusive, how long it lasts and what the buyer can do with it are exactly the terms we negotiate.
I already have an offer. Is it too late?
Not if you haven't signed. Send us the offer and we'll tell you how it compares and where there's room to push. That review is free.
What do you charge?
5% of the first $250,000 of a deal and 3% of anything above, paid from proceeds at closing. There is no retainer, and any referral fee a buyer pays us is credited to you.
How long does it take?
Most deals take 3 to 11 weeks from the first conversation to payment.
Can I sell to more than one buyer?
Often, yes. A non-exclusive license lets you sell the same records to several buyers. Some buyers pay more for exclusivity, and we help you decide whether that trade is worth it.
Who pays you?
Only you. If a buyer offers us a referral or finder's fee, the full amount is credited to your bill, so we have no reason to favor one buyer over another.
Are you a law firm?
No. We handle valuation, the competitive process and commercial negotiation. Your own attorney should review the final contract, and we work alongside them.
